We are in the process of purchasing, insuring, registration, etc. All tricky, as you all know there are no people that live outside of the USA, at least according to some people and organisations. Fortunately, there are companies and persons who don't believe this and help poor confused travellers...

You would't believe how tricky it was to get sims for our iPhones, but they work now, even if the data is only 'Edge'.

Day 17 - preparing to leave

Tomorrow morning we head for BNE airport and the 1st overseas leg of our trip - New Zealand. We had a great run up the northern NSW coast, caught up with friends and relatives, and visited some stunning spots. The next few days will be a bit of a pause before things really get going in the USA!

Glow worm cave

The Natural Arch, picture doesn't do justice to it: a quick visit while dropping by to see Warren & Clare (hang gliding friends) who live now in Helensville. Off to Brisbane now...

Woody Head Rocks in the evening

Lots of little holes in the rocks, currents throwing stones around have made big rock-pools and lots of small dents in larger rocks like these...

Day 12 - destination Woody Head

Fascinating day, leaving Hat Hill via Southwest Rocks to Trial Bay Gaol Ruins - very interesting history. During WW1 over 500 German-born Australians were rounded up and interred here until after the end of the war when most were returned against their wishes to Germany.


The 'enemy within'. Next we visited Smoky Cape lighthouse, then headed north to Woody Head, a gorgeous spot with the


best rock pool life i have seen since i was a kid - apart from all the usual stuff there were sea cucumbers, octopi, Sea slugs, and urchins.

On the way to Aspley Falls

There used to be a river crossing here, to access the long walk around the falls; unfortunately it has been washed away. Will be put back, but for now, can't do the long walk. (Not that we were going to!)
